“All lands protected by the district will be placed under heightened fire safety restrictions at that time, including forest land within one-eighth mile of the district boundary.”

Okay, so now that you all know it’s National Ice Cream month..what possbile excuse could you think of to not have an ice cream cone at the Scoop? :)

Can’t believe I just learned recently July is National Ice Cream Month! It actually started back in 1984 when President Ronald Reagan recognized the impact eating ice cream has on 90% of the nation’s population. Now, how in the world do you think I missed that reason for celebration? One will surely never know!
With it being summertime, what better treat to cool the summer heat than ice cream! More than likely you can reflect back on your childhood days and remember the scream for ice cream! I know I surely can. Even with our own kids the sound of the ice cream truck coming down the street brought on giggles, laughter and scampering to see who could get there first!
So, what are you waiting for – an engraved invitation?…

Just my opinion, but I think a fair measure of how we honor our fallen heroes is by how we treat those heroes who still are with us. Today I share two poems I wrote about our vets.Old send young to fight. Mothers bury their children. The rest go shopping. . .
Actions Speak Louder Than WordsComing home from war, vets find more stress awaits. The suicide rates are high. Why? Homelessness (please find a job) Unemployment (please get some help) Mental Illness (please apply for assistance). Long waits for benefits, courtesy of the government. But hey, here’s a free coffee. Thanks for defending democracy!

It’s been another great summer in Sumpter at the Scoop-N-Steamer! It’s been long, hot, and fun! As things start to wind down, we’ve finally been able to catch our breath and that’s when we realized that the Scoop-N-Steamer restaurant has been in business for almost 20 years! If you haven’t been to the Scoop-N-Steamer in a while, we would like to let you know that we have been working hard around here….for starters, we have added some new items to the menu you already love. And this summer, we introduced milkshakes to go along with our list of famous hard ice cream at the Scoop-N-Steamer! Last year, we started serving beer and wine too. We are also proud to announce that we now have another Log Cabin to the Scoop-N-Steamer, which brings our total available Log Cabins for rent to Five. It’s a cozy cabin for two…you can learn all about it here. With all these changes, we got to thinking that we would like to freshen our website up a bit too…We invite you to take a look around and let us know what you think! By the way, we are still working on our new home a little….but don’t let that stop you from taking a look around….. just be sure to come back soon!
